LAURA KNOY – Author: Hide and Go Seek

Monday, November 1st  ~  5:30 to 6:30pm   Event Space @Student Center

Top New Hampshire journalist Laura Knoy joins us at Saint Anselm College to discuss her forthcoming book: Hide and Go Seek.

This sweeping novel of historical fiction is heavily based on a true story that was shared with the author when she was an exchange student in Alsace, France. The central character is a Jewish woman named Sarah with a unique gift to see into the future. Using this almost supernatural talent, she saves her family from disaster in France during World War Two. Sarah grows up in Poland, where as a teenager, she becomes frustrated and exhausted by constant war and anti-Semitism. In 1920, she leaves Poland for France, hoping for a better life in the land of Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité.

For nearly two decades, she lives that immigrant dream: running a successful business, raising a family, and becoming part of the wider community. That all comes crashing down in 1940 with France’s capitulation to the Nazis, as Sarah finds her adopted country suddenly embracing a deadly racist ideology aimed at her kind.
