French culture is intricately connected to the arts. This summer workshop series introduces students to key concepts and themes that provide a basis for exploring France through the eyes of its visual artists.
Each workshop will focus on iconic artists and their works. Students will look at how the works reflect the period they were created in, historically, socially and politically. As students react to the different pieces themselves, they will explore how each piece was received by the public and critics.
This series is a good opportunity for artists and art appreciators to gain understanding of some key art movements that have had significant influences throughout the world. Additionally, the series is an ideal professional development opportunity for French teachers looking to inject art and culture into their foreign language curriculum.
Please note : The class will be taught in English, with some French to highlight the titles of key works and terms that might apply to the art movements.
Students may register for individual workshops or enjoy discounted pricing by registering for the entire series.
